Gras-mix is a blending of dehydrated grass enriched with fiber cubes plus Molashine, guaranteeing a product that hardly contains dust. Gras-mix is packed in a 90-litre recyclable plastic bag (approx. 18 kg), which protects the product against external influences.

Many people underestimate the importance of feeding the right type of roughage. When it comes to horse feed, people usually speak of the right type of pellets, muesli or grain mix, and the composition of concentrates. They hardly pay any attention to the impact of roughage while the horse’s physiological make-up is ‘programmed’ to nibbling on grass all day.
As part of our roughage production, we monitor the crops grown ensuring they are free of weed, for example, you won’t find the toxic Ragwort. After cutting the grass, it is then chopped and dehydrated in a very large drying drum under very high temperatures. This rapid dehydration process guarantees the freshness and tastiness of the product. In addition, all bacteria and harmful moulds and disease germs are destroyed, giving added value to the Gras-mix in comparison to traditional roughage such as hay and pre-dried grass silage.
Hartog feed box
A special feed box is available for optimal dispensing of Hartog Gras-mix.
This feed box can be mounted in the stable or paddock at the height of the horse’s chest. The feed box consists of an anti-spill edge that prevents loss of food. The feed box is also equipped with a metal grate that rests on the feed and ensures a slow intake of roughage. Grazing in the meadow is imitated in the stable.
The feed box can also be used for concentrates and of course for Hartog Lucerne-mix. If a concentrate is mixed with Gras-mix or Lucerne-mix, the horses will consume it far slower, which also ensures a better digestion of the concentrates.
Composition
Dehydrated grass is enriched with textured pellets of freshly harvested oats and a tasty supplement of Molashine, a mix of molasses and oil.

Gras-mix bestaat uit gedroogd gras, verrijkt met structuurbrok van groen geoogste snijhaver (de haverplant, niet de korrel, dus energiearm) en een smakelijke toevoeging van Molashine, een mengsel van melasse en lijnzaadolie.
Feeding advice
Use this product for replacing or combining with your current roughage. Gras-mix also combines very well with Hartog Lucerne-mix.
To meet the roughage requirement of your horse, feed him 1 kg of roughage daily per 100 kg of his weight. Since this has higher nutritional values than hay and silage, it is possible to reduce the amount of concentrate in the horse’s diet.
